Dale Stinton is one busy man and he’s about to assume even more responsibility. Stinton is currently CFO and CIO of the National Association of Realtors (NAR.) On November 1, he becomes CEO of the trade association, too, succeeding Terry McDermott, who is retiring. Stinton joined NAR 24 years ago and was named CFO in 1991. He served as acting CEO in 1996. Two years later, he was also appointed CIO. As CFO and CIO, he’s in charge of overseeing the association’s finances, its political action committee (RPAC), its website and its long-term IT strategy. Stinton recently oversaw the development, financing and construction of NAR’s new $47 million office building in Washington,
Thumbspeed gave Steve Elfman a thumbs up. The developer of applications for mobile phones and other wireless devices appointed Elfman to its advisory board. Elfman currently works for online directory InfoSpace as its executive vice president of technology and operations. Before joining InfoSpace, he was CIO of AT&T Wireless Services. He previously worked for GE Capital Fleet Services and 3M in senior technical management positions.
Public CIO reports that Kansas City, Missouri’s CIO Gail Roper has been elected chair of the Public Technology Insitute’s (PTI) Telecommunications and Information Technology Council, a network of senior level IT professionals representing PTI member cities and counties. Roper succeeds Michael Armstrong, CIO and assistant city manager of San Antonio, Texas, in this position. She has served as Kansas City’s CIO since March 2002.
