CIO — Come September, scheduling meetings with your mobile phone calendar may get easier. That’s when HandStep will be officially releasing TeamCalendar, software designed to aid planning, scheduling and booking meetings.

Based on Microsoft’s Outlook platform and compatible with all Windows-based smartphones, pocket PCs and PDAs, the product gives a quick graphic view of all proposed attendees’ schedules with a view of scheduling conflicts. Using a function called “SmartPlanning,” the software will also suggest best times for meetings and will e-mail all participating team members for confirmation.

TeamCalendar was exhibited at the Microsoft Worldwide Partner Conference in July, says Brian Nielsson, founder and board president of HandStep, a supplier of mobile applications. The original version of TeamCalendar was a custom application developed for the Danish Ministry of Social Affairs to allow the minister and his immediate staff to see one another’s calendars and schedule meetings, a task that had been difficult previously.
