A former CIO of Southwest Airlines accepted a job with HyPerformix as its vice president of software development.  Ross Holman became a customer of the application performance monitoring provider while working for Southwest.  (There’s one reason why you should be good to your vendors: They may be your future employer.)  Holman most recently founded and served as president of Palomino Professional Services.  Prior to Southwest, he was CIO of PageNet, vice president of systems development for Sprint, and he worked as a consultant with both Price Waterhouse and Andersen Consulting.

Philip Freeborn will assume the role of managing director and CIO of Barclays Capital in January.  In that position, Freeborn will be responsible for IT globally at the investment banking division of Barclay’s Bank, and he will report to Rich Ricci, Barclays Capital’s COO.  In being named managing director and CIO, Freeborn assumes the position vacated this past summer by Kevin O’Reilly.  Freeborn spent the past 12 years working for UBS, most recently as its global CIO.  This article talks about some of the IT projects going on at Barclays Capital and notes that the job Freeborn landed was a coveted one in the financial services industry. 

Tim Patneaude joined Wausaw Financial Systems as CIO and VP of Customer Care.  His top priorities include aligning the financial systems and services provider’s security policies with industry standards, such as ISO 17799 and Cobit, and implementing many aspects of the IT Infrastructure Library process framework.  He comes to the Mosinee, Wisc.-based company from Metavante where he was vice president of strategic infrastructure management.
