10. "Expert Advice for Lovelorn Techies"
Network World, Feb. 7
With Valentine's Day approaching, we thought we'd round out the list with some dating advice for techies. Don't fret, though—the advice is pretty simple and runs along the lines of: take a shower, put on clean clothes and that doesn't mean a T-shirt. "We definitely have to talk to techies about grooming and social skills," says Julie Paiva, CEO and founder of the San Francisco-area matchmaking service, Table for Six Total Adventures. "We tell techies to get a nice dinner jacket, even if it's just to pop over a Polo shirt. If they're wearing khakis and a T-shirt, we encourage them to have it color coordinated. Ponytails are OK. The problem is having them clean, shiny and well-groomed." All things considered, the best advice we can offer is probably that techies should just date other techies.
