It happens to everyone: You have some time to kill so you log onto Facebook. Before you know it, 45 minutes have passed. Where did the time go?
According to one report, Americans spend nearly seven hours a month on Facebook. That's more than Tumblr, Pinterest, Twitter, LinkedIn and Google+ combined.
A new app called TimeRabbit, created by Breakpoint Software Development, tracks the amount of time you spend on Facebook. The Windows app is free and works as a standalone application so it can monitor your usage across all major browsers: Internet Explorer, Firefox and Chrome.
After you've downloaded the application and navigated to Facebook, a counter will pop up and begin logging your time. The timer stops five seconds after you've left Facebook or when it detects 30 seconds of mouse or keyboard inactivity.
Kuba Udymowski-Grecki, Breakpoint’s owner, says that because the app has become so popular, Twitter and Pinterest monitoring apps are now in the works.
