Yesterday, I published my hands-on review of the first BlackBerry 10 smartphone, the Z10. (Check out my full evalution here.) I have a lot of good things to say about the smartphone, but one area that does not currently impress is the selection of quality BlackBerry 10 applications in the BlackBerry World store. BlackBerry has been talking up the number of apps in BlackBerry World for weeks now, but I still don't see most of the popular apps I use frequently on other mobile platforms.
Today BlackBerry sent me a list of some of the notable application partners it's working with, and there are quite a few recognizable names in there.
BlackBerry says there are 70,000 apps available for BlackBerry 10 right now, which is the largest number of mobile applications available for a brand new platform at launch, according to the company. That is an impressive number, but as the saying goes, quantity does not equal quality, and I still don't see most of my favorite apps. That said, the platform is brand new, and BlackBerry 10 does seem to be gaining some traction among big-name app makers. Check out RIM's list of notable BlackBerry 10 apps below for specifics. The underlined items are the apps that I'm most excited to see. (Note: Many of these applications are not yet available but should be in the coming weeks and months.)
