Apple Hated Because It's Too Like Republican Party, Claims Angry Rush Limbaugh

The tech press hates Apple and that great sniffer-outer of liberal bias Rush Limbaugh thinks he has figured out why; the world's largest computer firm is the technological equivalent of the U.S. Republican Party.

In his trademark radio show rant last week, Limbaugh was not suggesting that Apple itself is Republican so much as sharing the Grand Old Party's cultural unpopularity among a certain group with "liberal Democrat" leanings.

This group of journalists and bloggers regularly trashed Apple in favour of its rivals Samsung, Google and Android.

"I would venture to say that nine out of 10 bloggers writing high-tech hate Apple. Apple is the equivalent of the Republicans on these blogs, and Google, Android, and Samsung are the equivalent of the Democrats," said Limbaugh.

"They're [Google et al] perfect, they can't do anything wrong, they're ideal, and everybody hates Apple. "

Limbaugh's show didn't offer much evidence to back up his claims, nor why both Apple and the Republicans should be so unpopular. He also admitted that the dislike of Apple was hard to understand given that its hardcore loyalists were more often than not liberally-inclined themselves.

Could it be that Apple's unpopularity stems from its being the largest computer company on earth and that all computer firms that become that vast usually end up criticised by default? Might it it also be that the analysis is superficial and if you look hard enough Apple also has its advocates and supporters?

By the same token, Microsoft or Google are hardly hugely loved in some tech circles while the GOP's unpopularity might simply be connected to the fact that it is a political party and all political parties are inclined to be as disliked as they are liked.

Not for Limbaugh. "It's a teachable moment out there. Fascinating. Study of the media is fascinating. To watch the sports media, folks. Because they're all liberal, they're all formulaic. They're all liberal by default. They don't know anything else," opined Limbaugh.
