The departure of Dell’s top executive in China will not hurt the company, Dell’s president of Asia-Pacific said Friday.
"We have a very deep bench in China," said Steve Felice, president of Dell Asia-Pacific. "We’ve been planning for succession in China."
On Thursday, rival PC maker Lenovo Group announced that David Miller, president of Dell China, and Sotaro Amano, president of Dell Japan, had joined the company as chief of its Asia-Pacific and Japanese operations, respectively.
In response, Dell announced that Junling Liu, a former member of the Dell Americas executive team, and Amit Midha, a former sales director at Dell China, will replace Miller as co-presidents of Dell China. The statement did not name a replacement for Amano.
The departures of Miller and Amano follow that of several other key Dell executives in Asia over the past year. In December, Bill Amelio, the former president of Dell Asia-Pacific, joined Lenovo as its president and chief executive officer. Two months before that, Foo Piau Phang, then president of Dell China, left the company. Foo took over as president and CEO of notebook maker Shenzhen Hasee Computer in June.
