Sony, Guba Team to Offer Films Online

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment and Guba.com, a search engine and video-swapping site, have inked a deal to offer new and old films via the Internet for $19.99 and $9.99, respectively, The Wall Street Journal reports.

In June, Guba and Warner Bros. reached a similar deal to distribute Warner film and television content on Guba.com.

Sony plans to initially offer 100 films, including “Hitch” with Will Smith and the popular “Memoirs of a Geisha,” and it will eventually sell 500 films for download, according to the Journal.

Until the Guba-Warner Bros. pact, Guba.com was mostly driven by user-generated content, the Journal reports.
