IFA is a large technology show held in Berlin, Germany, and Samsung will be holding its Unpacked 2014 Episode 2 event so here's what we expect to be announced.

The Unpacked event is scheduled for Sept. 3 and although it's being held in Berlin, there will also be simultaneous shows in New York and Beijing. As is traditional in the technology industry, some details and clues have been leaked about which devices we'll see Samsung unveil.

Before we dive in, let's quickly look at what Samsung won't announce. It's most recent announcement is the Galaxy Alpha which was a possibility for IFA and the Unpacked event - it's a sort of metal version of the Galaxy S5. Samsung has also recently launched the Galaxy S5 mini and certainly won't be taking the wraps off the Galaxy S6 this year.

Samsung Galaxy Note 4

It's pretty much certain that Samsung will confirm the Galaxy Note 4 at the IFA Unpacked press conference. This is what was expected before Samsung sent out invites for the event. Now we have the invite (see above) it's not too hard to work out that the Galaxy Note 4 will be the star of the show. See also: The best smartphones you can buy in 2014.

For starters, the invitation says "Note the date!" hinting at the Galaxy Note series of smartphones and the exclamation mark looking like a stylus. Furthermore, the graphic used corresponds with the software feature on Galaxy Note devices which is for the stylus.

Of course, there are leaked details on the Galaxy Note 4 which suggest it will come with a 5.7-inch, 4k screen, a Retina scanner and a UV sensor, and come in a premium metal version with a flexible display. The Galaxy Note 4 will take precedence at Unpacked but that doesn't mean it will be the only new device which Samsung unveils. After all, it's not like Samsung to launch a small number of products. With the new Galaxy Tab S tablets now available it's the wearable sector where we expect the other new products to come from (although don't rule out new tablets completely).

Samsung Gear Solo

Although the Samsung Gear Live is one of the Android Wear smartwatches which you can buy now, Samsung is rumoured to be launching another wrist bound device in the form of the Gear Solo. It's expected that the Solo will still run Android Wear but its key aspect will be a SIM-card slot meaning it will be able to function fully without needing to be connected to a smartphone or tablet over Bluetooth.

Samsung Gear VR

Last but not least is the Gear VR headset which is set to be an Oculus Rift rival. According to rumours, it's a virtual reality headset that works only with high-end Samsung devices, for example the Note 3 and Galaxy S5, which are docked via USB 3.0.

It also runs on Samsung's Tizen OS and you can read more about the headset on our Gear VR release date, price and specs roundup.
