I’ve been a fan of comics for quite a long time, but somehow I never ended up reading Deadpool. It’s a comic that has been around since the 90s, but it just never got on my radar. And that’s a real shame because Deadpool is one of the best characters in the Marvel universe.
Fortunately for me, Deadpool was recently made into a movie and, after watching the movie, I’ve begun reading the comics. You can buy Deadpool in HD on iTunes for $14.99. The film also comes bundled with iTunes Extras that include deleted scenes, extended scenes, a gag reel, an 80 minute documentary and other goodies.
Here's a brief description of what you can expect from the Deadpool movie from the official movie site:
Based upon Marvel Comics’ most unconventional anti-hero, DEADPOOL tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.
I bought the film and watched it last night. Hilarious doesn’t begin to describe it. It’s one of the best superhero movies I’ve ever seen, and it had me chuckling right from the start. I wasn’t sure if I’d enjoy it, but I found it to be the perfect antidote to a lot of the superhero movies that take themselves far too seriously.
Deadpool is also the first R rated superhero movie. You’ll understand why once you start watching it. The film is chock full of…er…adult references and takes the superhero genre to a whole new level of humor. It’s also packed with action and includes a good story as well.
Here’s a look at Deadpool’s red band trailers (note there’s some salty language in them):
And if you're looking for some fun Deadpool stuff for your iPhone or iPad, be sure to check out the Deadpool Movie Emojis app, and also the Deadpool Wallpaper app. Both apps capture the...er...flavor of the Deadpool movie, and will let you take Deadpool with you wherever you go.
I'll leave you with one of the wallpapers that truly shows what Deadpool is all about:
