CIO Career Coach: How to tell it's time to leave your job (video)

In the first episode of a new video series, executive recruiter Martha Heller points out some common signs that it's time to make a career move.

Welcome to the first episode of "CIO Career Coach," a video series I created with and, the video division of CIO's parent company, IDG. The first subject I plan to cover is something I am sure is near and dear to many of you: Running an effective IT executive job search.

I have been recruiting IT executives for 11 years, and if I have learned anything, it's that the more strategic you are in your job search, the more opportunities you will have. As an IT executive, you are good at many things, but creating a job search strategy may not be one of them. Chances are you haven't been active on the job market for several years, and you could probably use a refresher.

Whether you are an experienced CIO looking for a new challenge or an IT executive rising up through the ranks, you will find much to guide you in this video series. From defining your brand to managing the interview, you will learn valuable advice for every stage of the job search process.

Episode No. 1 starts at the beginning: How to tell it's time to leave your job. I plan to post new episodes every few weeks, and they'll provide insights on how to build your personal brand, write a great resume, work with recruiters, ace an interview, negotiate an offer, and gracefully leave your current job.

I am confident you'll find all of the videos helpful, but I also welcome your feedback.
