New CIO appointments, August 2016 edition

A bevy of women appear on this month's list of new CIO positions and board appointments.

As I send my oldest daughter off to college (in just three days, but who's counting?), I find myself thinking about her professional destiny. Should she decide to pursue a career in IT leadership, it seems she will be in good company. If this month's crop of CIO appointments is any indication of what's to come, women are making their way into some extremely influential CIO roles. Congratulations to the class of 2016, and to all of these CIOs!

Paula Tolliver is now corporate vice president and CIO for Intel. Tolliver was formerly vice president of business services and CIO with Dow Chemical.

Melanie Kalmar was promoted from director of information systems to the role of CIO with Dow Chemical.

Verizon Enterprise Group appointed Vic Bhagat as its new CIO. He was executive vice president and CIO at EMC.

Delaney Bellinger recently joined Huntsman as vice president and CIO. Bellinger was previously with EP Energy, where she served as CIO.

BB&T has promoted Barbara F. Duck from senior executive vice president and manager of data and technology services to the position of CIO.

Ashley T. Brooks joined LKQ Corp. as senior vice president and CIO. Previously, Brooks served as the CIO for global components at Arrow Electronics.

Michael Fillios is now senior vice president and CIO with Fifth Third Bank. Fillios was previously vice president of IT and divisional CIO with Delphi.

The Brink's Company named Rohan Pal as CIO and chief digital officer. Pal served as senior vice president and CIO at Recall Holdings before joining Brink's.

Alan Lowden was recently promoted from vice president of technology to CIO with H&R Block.

Ken Lee was recently appointed senior vice president and CIO for New York Power Authority. Lee was most recently managing director for Bluewater Growth Partners.

Nathan Johnson joined Werner Enterprises as senior vice president and CIO. Johnson spent several years as senior vice president and CIO with Ports America prior to joining Werner Enterprises.

Arcadis U.S. promoted Kim Brown Wilmsen from vice president of North America IT to the position of senior vice president and CIO.

EarthLink named Jay Ferro as executive vice president, and chief information and product officer. Previously, Ferro was the CIO for the American Cancer Society.

Del Monte Foods named Robert Long vice president and CIO. Long was formerly vice president of IT for Big Heart Pet Brands.

The University of Richmond named Keith McIntosh as vice president and CIO. McIntosh was previously CIO and associate vice president of digital instruction and information services at Ithaca College.

Mark Settle was named the first ever CIO of Okta. Prior to joining Okta, Settle was CIO at IHS.

Carol J. Zierhoffer, senior vice president and global CIO for Bechtel Corp., joined Vizient's board of directors.

Sheila Jordan, senior vice president and CIO at Symantec, was elected to the board of directors for FactSet.
