Dear CIO.com reader,

I'm happy to announce our new partnership with LinkedIn—the professional networking tool.

We have released a first wave of new features that leverage CIO.com's content and your LinkedIn network to discover and create professional connections between you and the companies you read about on CIO.com.

Click on the blue "in" logo across CIO.com to:

  • See existing or create new connections to companies covered in our articles (Google , for example)
  • Discover your connections to insiders at companies who are hiring in our CIO Wanted career listings
  • Learn which of your connections are attending CIO-sponsored Executive Programs and events
  • Use your LinkedIn profile to automatically populate Executive Program registration forms

Finally, we've opened an exclusive CIO group on LinkedIn. With more than 800 hand-picked IT professionals already registered, we plan on facilitating IT discussions and connections to help you do your job. If you are a senior IT professional, we'd love to have you join.

These features are provided by LinkedIn and require only a free LinkedIn account, available here, to access.

This is just the beginning of the collaboration between CIO.com and LinkedIn, and we plan to continue to enhance our site to better integrate CIO.com with your network of professional contacts. Be on the lookout for future enhancements in the coming weeks. We believe this is an innovative partnership and we are eager to hear your thoughts.

CIO.com and LinkedIn have taken special care to preserve your privacy. CIO.com cannot access any of your personal data, including connections, without your express permission. Additionally, once you have given us permission, we do not store any of your information; we use it only to identify connections in our database and display them to you.

One of the key strategies that IT teams are pursuing to reduce capital costs while boosting asset utilization and employee productivity is the transition to highly virtualized data centers. However, IDC finds that expectations for further boosts in IT asset use and operational efficiency often surpass the actual results for a variety of reasons. These problems can quickly overwhelm any hoped-for benefits as the scope of virtual server deployment expands.
For your IT organization to keep pace with the business, you need a new, faster approach to infrastructure deployment-an approach that increases agility and accelerates time to application value. That's HP Converged Systems. Built on Converged Infrastructure, these systems deliver the industry's first portfolio of pre-integrated, tested, and optimized infrastructure solutions for applications running in virtual, cloud, dedicated, or hybrid environments.

How do you ensure your applications have fast, accurate, up-to-date information in this new world? Modern applications are data-intensive; delivering data the old way using monolithic databases isn't working. What's needed is a modern approach to data. One that scales-out as needed and delivers predictable high performance, but without sacrificing data consistency or integrity.
