Motorola Israel Limited (MIL) has sought an official invitation letter from the Sierra Leone government for a team of its experts to visit the country, a source from the country's Ministry of Information and Communications wrote in an e-mail to Deputy Minister Mohammed Koroma on Wednesday.
As an arm of Motorola, MIL manufactures and develops radio communication and electronic equipment.
The experts' mission, the e-mail stated, is to conduct a survey and seek international funds in order to provide Motorola nationwide connectivity to Sierra Leone's government offices.
Though the ministry has yet to make an official statement, sources close to government have confirmed the possibility of the enterprise, as the ministry has exchanged a few e-mails with Avi Levy, MIL's West Africa regional sales manager for government and public safety.
According to Wednesday's e-mail, Koroma met Levy in July at the West Africa: ICT Road Map to Opportunities Conference in Accra, Ghana.
