Parallels Revamps Virtualization Software for Macs
Claims Windows runs 50 percent faster in Parallels Desktop for Mac 4.0, adds super 'porn mode'
Parallels Desktop for Mac 4.0 is available immediately via download and at retail for $79.99; an upgrade for current users is priced at $39.99. Customers who purchased Version 3.0 on or after Sept. 1 are eligible for a free upgrade.
Parallels' biggest competitor in the Mac virtualization market, VMware Inc., launched Version 2.0 of its Fusion software in mid-September. It also competes with Sun Microsystems Inc.'s open-source VirtualBox 2.0.4, which can be downloaded at no charge.
