Ask a group of IT leaders how they like to reward themselves, and you'll be hard-pressed to find one person who names something extravagant. Given that the typical IT chief has a pragmatic, sensible nature and keeps a low-profile, few will splurge on a $7,000 Birkin bag or an equally expensive boat. They favor simpler pleasures.
That's the consensus among the 18 members of the CIO Forum on LinkedIn who responded to our recent question, How do you reward yourself for working hard or for achieving a specific goal? Many IT leaders said that they prefer to reward themselves by completely disconnecting from work, or by sharing their success with their teams and their families. Others shared their preferred material indulgences. Here's CIO.com's look at IT leaders' favorite ways to indulge themselves.
Given the hectic nature of their jobs, IT managers and executives like to get away from it all. To recharge their batteries, they enjoy travelling to pristine natural environments where wireless access is limited and they can completely disconnect from work.
