Korean Government Stimulates Cloud Industry
A growing number of industry leading firms are choosing Cloud computing as the solution to their data needs, and South Korea is no exception to this new global technology trend. IDG News Service — A growing number of industry leading firms are choosing Cloud computing as the solution to their data needs, and South Korea is no exception to this new global technology trend. IDG Korea will hold 'Cloud & Data Center World 2010' on April 7th and 8th at the JW Marriott Hotel, Seoul. Listeners will learn about South Korea's government plan for cloud computing support, as well as cases from local companies, and experts' perspective on global trends.
Recently, Korea's Communications Commission announced it will invest over $500 million in the development of cloud computing facilities until 2014. The goal of this plan is to enlarge South Korea's market share in the cloud computing industry to 10%.
To do this, The Korean government will introduce cloud computing into several of their agencies, such as: Ministry of Knowledge Economy, Korea Communications Commission, and Ministry of Public Administration and Security. At 'Cloud & Data Center World 2010', Joong-Hyup Kang, Head of Information Strategy Office at the Ministry of Public Administration and Security, will present about this new plan.
Various local cloud computing services and building cases will be addressed at 'Cloud & Data Center World 2010'. Among them, SK Telecom's case study on PaaS (Platform as a Service) and cloud computing services from Samsung SDS will help highlight Korean potential within the industry.
Many experts will also address global technology trends, issues and challenges surrounding cloud computing. Simone Brunozzi, the Technology Evangelist for Amazon delivers the keynote address about Amazon's strategy for continued preoccupancy over global market and technology.
A global expert in cloud computing and vice president of AT&T's Strategy and Business Development, Joe Weinman will share his perspective and outline for future global technology trends. Nils Puhlman, a Co-Founder of CSA (Cloud Security Alliance), and Chief Security Officer of Zynga Game Network will provide clear solutions to cloud systems security, which has been the biggest obstacle to the invigoration of the cloud computing market.
In terms of data center, Tim M. Crawford, who is board member of Data Center Pulse, a global end user community of Data Center owners and operators, will talk about the top 10 issues surrounding data center operation.
In addition, international companies, such as Oracle (ORCL), HP (HPQ), IBM (IBM), APC, Novell (NOVL) and Microsoft (MSFT), as well as domestic ones including Shinhan Bank, Haansoft, Samsung SDS and Clunet will share their experience with cloud computing and data centers.
