2007 Winner Profile
Boekhandels Groep Nederland
- Project Description: Dutch book retailer Boekhandels Groep Nederland reduced the cost of pricing and tracking its inventory using RFID tags on individual items. The RFID solution tracks the movement of individual books and improves service by allowing customers to instantly find any book in the store. Item-level tagging provides real-time visibility into both store inventory and supply chain activities. Out-of-stock books are delivered faster and the check-in process is expedited. BGN can process 40,000 books in two hours. The system will eventually be deployed to all 42 of the company's stores, and 2.2 million books will be tagged.
