Welfare Client Data Systems Consortium
- Project Description: Welfare Client Data Systems Consortium: The WCDS Consortium (consisting of 18 California counties) developed and implemented the CalWorks Information Network (CalWIN) to more efficiently administer public-assistance programs for their respective communities. CalWIN is an integrated online, real-time, automated system with 26 subsystems to support eligibility and benefits determination, client correspondence, management reports, interfaces and case management for public-assistance programs such as food stamps and foster care. CalWIN, which processes 11 million transactions daily, has significantly improved delivery of services to the state's increasingly diverse population. The consortium estimates total savings from the project to be more than $500 million through 2011.
