2009 Winner Profile
Con-way
- Project Description: The Linehaul Simulation Project provided Con-way with a tool that can simulate changes to its less-than-truckload (LTL) freight distribution network. Load planners can now test changes to how it allocates freight within its network and get reports that show the benefits. In 2008, the tool was used to implement a reengineering of the distribution network resulting in changes that will reportedly save Con-way $30 million to $40 million annually in operating costs. It will also greatly increase operational efficiency and exception-free service while eliminating 124,000 miles per day from network operations.
