2009 Winner Profile

OhioHealth

  • Project Description: OhioHealth implemented voice-recognition software in order to eliminate the need for manual transcriptions of radiology reports, allowing radiologists to dictate their reports, edit them and then digitally sign off to return the report to the patient¿s doctor. The system learns the radiologists' voices, constantly improving automated transcriptions to reduce edits. By documenting patient imaging results in minutes rather than days, OhioHealth has not only reduced report time and improved patient care, they recouped $434,378 in transcription costs in 2008.
