- Project Description: Palo Alto has become one of the first cities in the nation to track its greenhouse gas emissions and its use of electricity, water and other resources. Using Hara Environmental and Energy Management Software, employees in each of the city's 13 departments can track their emissions and usage in real time and compare that data against their goals. By 2020, the city wants its emissions to total 15 percent less than they did in 2005. The city says the tracking software has helped its employees identify 75 initiatives that might reduce emissions or energy costs.
