22 Signs You're a Geek

Love of gadgets, a fat wallet and extensive online social networks are just three signs that you're probably a geek. (And we mean that in the best way.)

Are you a geek? In our increasingly techie times, it's a good title to have. Regardless of what the term once meant, it is increasingly coming to signify those who take pride in their intellect and passions—tech and otherwise. And those who are at the forefront of innovation and change.

Just consider: Facebook, Twitter and other Web 2.0 apps have been adopted by the masses. Previously corporate-only smartphones like the BlackBerry are making a big grab for the consumer market. Sites like Digg and Slashdot are having powerful effects on what media does well, and Facebook and Twitter are creating extensive social networks—and even breaking news. On the enterprise front, open source is going mainstream. And in pop culture, there's the increased popularity of geek cinema and geek chic.

So in honor of geeks everywhere, we compiled a list of 22 defining traits. Not all apply to everyone and we certainly didn't cover everything, so please suggest more or tell us what you think.

Geek Wallets

1. You have a way higher salary than most people your age.

2. Because of this, you have the means to devote to your passions—especially your love of gadgets and tech toys.

3. You have one BlackBerry for work, one for play—which is running an unofficial beta OS, of course—and an iPhone and Treo 750 just to keep you company.
