CIOs across India express shock and disbelief as they pay tribute to Amit Jain, Global Head of IT infrastructure, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), after his sudden and untimely demise on March 19, 2020. Credit: IDG Aged 53, Amit Jain is understood to have died due to cardiac arrest while at work. Jain was associated with TCS for over three decades, where he spearheaded its global IT infrastructure services. Jain was a proud recipient of several honors including 4 consecutive CIO100 Awards before being inducted into the CIO100 Hall of Fame in 2016. Jain’s colleague, Alok Kumar, who is the VP and global head delivery center management and shared services at TCS, shares, “I was fortunate and privileged enough to have known and worked closely with such a fine, quiet and humble colleague and friend for 3 decades. We will definitely miss him.” Manoj Srivastava, a CIO100 Hall of Fame Winner, recounts, “It was a great honor to share the stage with Amit for the prestigious CIO Hall of Fame in 2016. He was a pillar of strength and perseverance.” Bhushan Akerkar, former CIO at Hindalco Industries, says, “I used to interact with Amit at forums and CIO events. He had impeccable expertise and deep knowledge of the industry.” Ravikiran S Mankikar, former chief general manager, Shamrao Vithal Co-Operative Bank, shares, “An exceptional team leader, he was passionate about delivering quality and equally focussed on the well-being and growth of everyone around.” The incredible achiever, IT leader, and friend—Amit Jain—will be truly missed by the CIO community across India.
