Some Virgin Media customers have experienced broadband and email problems as the internet service provider works to fix a large fault in its network.

Virgin Media told Broadband Genie that engineers are working on it as a “high priority”: it is a backbone issue which means many customers will be fine, as it depends on how they are being routed around the system.

The spokesperson said: “Some of our customers are currently experiencing intermittent service problems caused by power fluctuations at one of our facilities. Our engineers are working hard to bring services back on line as quickly as possible.”

With its 50Mbps fibre optic network Virgin Media claims it is the fastest mainstream broadband available in the UK.
