Insurance provider RSA has appointed a new COO who will be responsible for the operational IT. Darren McKenzie will join London-based RSA on July 1 as COO for the UK and Western Europe. Group CIO Darren Price is a former COO at RSA, you can read his recent CIO Profile here. McKenzie will report directly to Steve Lewis, Chief Executive for the UK & Western Europe, RSA said in a statement. Prior to joining RSA McKenzie was CIO of Santander in Germany where he was responsible for the integration and migration of millions of customers to new systems and processes. Prior to this, McKenzie was CIO for UK building society Alliance and Leicester where, following the acquisition by Santander, he implemented its new IT operating model, RSA said. In a statement chief executive Lewis said: “To successfully compete in the UK and European market, we need the very best operations and IT processes. I’m committed to investing in and significantly improving how we use technology to benefit our customers and employees.” McKenzie said in a statement: “Technology is changing rapidly and customers’ expectations of the service they receive are changing too. Comparisons of service are now drawn from every sector, ranging from retail right through to finance, and in order to meet customers’ needs, companies require robust, intuitive and flexible systems and processes.
