Global Radio, the record label, TV and radio broadcaster behind stations Capital, Heart, Classic FM, Smooth, LBC and XFM, has hired the former CIO of Daily Mail General Trust (DMGT) companies Northcliffe Media and dmg media, David Henderson, as its Broadcast and Technology Director.

Henderson was placed in the top 20 of the 2013 edition of the CIO 100 before starting a post as chief operating officer at Evenbase, another part of the DMGT portfolio. He began his new CIO role at Leicester Square-based Global Radio this month.

“I’m very excited to be part of the Global family,” he said. “Global are a growing radio, television and entertainment business reaching over 23 million people in the UK; they get digital and the importance of technology, and the imperative to excel at product management.”

A keen cricketer and qualified coach, Henderson has been a popular author for CIO UK and has written about why the COO role is the next step for the truly ambitious CIO, tackling the lack of gender equality in the technology industry, and what CIOs can learn from the technology relationship the Wimbledon tennis championships at The All England Club has with its audience, broadcasters, players and with IBM.
