Former CIO for the Department of Energy and Climate Change, Jennifer Rigby, has left government technology to become Head of IT Channels at mobile operator O2.

Former BBC employee Rigby was Head of IT Strategy at the National Archives and Head of Information at the Home Office before being ‘loaned’ to the Department for Energy and Climate Change as its CIO in January 2011.

Recognised in the 2013 edition of the CIO for her work at DECC, Rigby returned to the Home Office as Director of Corporate Security in June 2013 and started at Telefonica UK last month in the IT Channels team which has a remit to be “at the forefront of providing brilliant digital experiences to customers”.

Suffolk County Council CIO Mark Adams-Wright also left the public sector to join Telefonica UK last year when he was appointed Local Government and Eduction Managing Partner in April 2013.
