CIO 100 high-flyer David Jack has joined ecommerce delivery company MetaPack as its Group CIO from Hyperion Insurance. In his new role David Jack will be responsible for overseeing all software engineering and will report directly to Patrick Wall, CEO and founder of MetaPack Group, the company said. Jack said: “Over the last few years, I have observed an obvious but still potent mix of retail consumer dynamics with every customer interaction being valued as an asset, a growing demand for ever more complex and dynamic pricing, with a mobile first expectation delivered in an omnichannel strategy. All of these elements are already successfully at play within MetaPack, where customer engagement is right at the core of what the company does. “MetaPack is a dynamic, fast-growth company and is already a leading provider of delivery management solutions to some of Europe’s best-known retailers and their partners. “I am excited to be joining an established and talented team with ambitious plans to take the company to even higher levels where its best-in-class solutions make the difference between an ordinary and an exceptional customer delivery experience.” Former CIO at thetrainline.com, Jack was recognised in the top three of the 2015 CIO 100 and described by the judging panel as a leader who can explain to the CEO what technology can enable the business to do, a bold risk taker who gets things done, as someone who has a single view of the customer. Jack spoke to CIO UK recently and described his role as ensuring Hyperion is a disruptive force in its market as financial services increasingly faces challenger brands and in the case of banking, entirely new models. CEO Wall added: “David is a commercially focused, passionate and technology-obsessed CIO with a proven track record of change and he will be instrumental in devising and directing our development. “In his varied career, David has continually demonstrated his ability to evangelise new technical innovation and drive business growth whilst developing strong creative teams. We are delighted to welcome him to MetaPack where he will be a critical part of our global management team.” Related content case study How IT leaders use EV tech to fuel the transport revolution in Kenya Many African nations are starting to invest in electric vehicle (EV) transportation as a means to broaden access and help keep pace with global environmental initiatives.
