Stuart Hughes has been appointed CTO at LateRooms.com, taking over from Adam Gerrard who left his role in May this year. Former Avis CIO Gerrard was recognised in the CIO 100 earlier this year for his role in promoting a collaborative culture at the TUI-owned organisation, and helping launch the LateRooms brand on a global scale following his five-year stint at the car hire company. Hughes joins from The Hut Group, a specialist online retailer which owns sites in the health and beauty, clothing and accessories, entertainment, weight management, sports nutrition, vitamins, and cycling and endurance sectors. In his first CIO role at The Hut Group, Hughes spoke of his preferences for using Agile software development practices to shorten time to market while overseeing a team of 120. He also managed a transformational change programme, and takes over an estate of around 180 staff in the UK at LateRooms.com, as well as a corporate strategy that previously was under the remit of the CTO.
