Former Boral tech chief, William Payne, has joined real estate group Mirvac in the newly created role of chief digital officer, reporting to CEO, Susan Lloyd-Hurwitz.
Since August last year, Payne was chief executive officer at compliance and fleet management company, Cortex. Prior to that, Payne was CIO at Boral, a role that he held for around two-and-a-half years.
Mirvac said in a statement that technology is embedded into everything that the company does and in the newly-created role, Payne will be responsible for overseeing its strategic information technology capability as well as the broader digital strategy for the group.
Mirvac chief Susan Lloyd-Hurwitz said Payne’s appointment will help the organisation better co-ordinate and drive its digital investments across multiple parts of the business.
“William’s skills and experiences align with the increasing importance of data and digital capabilities for Mirvac as we Reimagine Urban Life, and we look forward to having William join the Mirvac team.”
Payne placed number 22 in the 2018 CIO50 list for his work leading the creation and implementation of a digital strategy at Boral.
He helped reshape the company’s IT function into Boral Digital Solutions and made it a pivotal element of the wider organisation’s future business strategy.
Payne starts on March 2.
