Qantas’ chief information officer, Susan Doniz will join Boeing in May as its CIO and senior VP of information technology and data analytics, the US-based aerospace giant has announced.

Doniz will succeed Vishwa Uddanwadiker who has served in an interim capacity since October 2019.

In this role, Doniz, 50, will oversee all aspects of IT, security, data and analytics for the world’s largest aerospace organisation. Reporting to Boeing’s president and chief executive, David Calhoun, she will support the growth of the organisation through IT and analytics-related revenue generating programs, the company said.

Calhoun said that Doniz is a proven, customer-focused technology leader with extensive global experience across multiple industries, including commercial aviation.

“Susan is a proven, customer-focused technology leader with extensive global experience across multiple industries, including commercial aviation,” he said in a statement.

“She brings deep insights and skills to digital transformation, data analytics and artificial intelligence – all essential to our long-term growth strategy as well as our continuous drive for operational and safety excellence. She brings as well a passion for STEM education and diversity and inclusion.”

Doniz will also serve on the company’s executive council and will be based in Chicago.

Doniz joined Qantas in December 2016, relocating from Canada to join the airline. She took on group-wide responsibilities for technology and works with Jetstar and Qantas Loyalty.

Prior to that, she held strategic roles at SAP, Aimia and Procter & Gamble.
