Bakers Warburtonshas completed the roll out of a Wipro Demand Management system to improve the production of breads. The CIO of Warburtons needed to help the company improve order fulfillments and manage demand, especially during sales fluctuations. Warburtons identified the need for a simpler production planning system that would operate across all its bakeries. Warburtons is a national bread producer with bakeries in Yorkshire, Lancashire and London. Its products are available in all the major supermarkets. Warburtons, a major user of SAP enterprise resource planning applications, selected Wipro Technologies the Indian business process outsourcing (BPO) and IT services provider to develop the production planning system. The Wipro Sub Daily Production Planning and Scheduling (iSDPS) system was integrated at Warburtons and is now to be used for short term production planning. The system will enable the family owned British company to improve the use of its production processes and staff. Warburton has 5,000 staff across 14 bakeries and 15 depots. IT analyst house IDC, which is part of the same company as CIO UK, has awarded Wipro with the accolade of ‘highest average rating’ amongst Indian BPO service providers.
