Former Group IT director at the Co-operative Group Ian Dyson has been hired to take control of the IT estate at Debenhams.

Dyson’s new title at the retailer and department store is Director of IS Service Delivery & Transition.

Cranfield School of Management MBA Dyson was Group IT director at the Co-op for five years, reporting to the CEO with overall responsibility for IT across the Trading Group – which included the Manchester-based mutual’s food, pharmacy, funerals and travel businesses.

In September 2011, Boots IT director Andy Haywood left his role at the pharmacy chain to become Group CIO at the Co-op, heading a matrix-style technology leadership that included Dyson as the organisation’s IT Group Operations Director. In that role, Dyson worked across both the retail and financial services businesses with a focus on IT transformation, integration and security, until he left in August 2013.
