JPMorgan Chase has appointed Dana Deasy as its new CIO. Deasy, who starts his new role in December, joins from oil giant BP where he was CIO and group vice president for six years, responsible for global information technology, procurement and global real estate. JPMorgan chief administrative officer Paul Compton said: “Dana Deasy is an extraordinarily talented executive with outstanding experience, and we are pleased he’ll be leading this critically important role for our company. “Technology fuels almost every aspect of our company and is core to the value proposition we offer our customers, clients and communities.” Deasy, who has also worked as CIO for General Motors and Siemens, will be responsible for JPMorgan’s technology systems and infrastructure across all of its business globally, replacing interim CIO Mike Ashworth – who will continue as deputy CIO for the company and CIO for the firm’s consumer and community banking business. Gordon Smith, CEO of the company’s consumer businesses, added: “We’re very fortunate that someone with Mike Ashworth’s deep experience across our company will be responsible for delivering technology solutions to our 52 million consumer and small business customers across the United States.” Related content feature Expedia poised to take flight with generative AI CTO Rathi Murthy sees the online travel service’s vast troves of data and AI expertise fueling a two-pronged transformation strategy aimed at growing the company by bringing more of the travel industry online.
