FormerBalfour Beatty CIO Darryn Warner has been appointed CIO at support services and construction company Interserve.

Warner replaces Gary Long, who spent 12 years at Interserve and was group head of IT since March 2008.

Ex-Black & Decker IT director Warner said that he was “excited and highly” motivated at the opportunities offered in his new role as CIO for Interserve, with his mandate to lead the company into the next stage of its three-year roadmap, supporting future direction and growth by “exploiting real value from the technologies we use and information we produce”.

Predecessor Long told CIO magazine last year he oversaw a global IT workforce of around 200 with most of the projects kept in house.
