Telegraph appoints new CIO to drive digital transformation

The Telegraph Media Group has announced Jon Brendsel as its new group CIO.

Starting his new post in January 2014 and reporting to TMG chief executive Murdoch MacLennan, Brendsel joins as a member of the senior management team and is charged with “leading the Technology team forward to deliver the technology solutions and platforms needed for TMG to achieve our digital corporate strategy”, the company said.

Brendsel said: “I am truly excited to join one of the most respected brands in the media industry. I was impressed by the vision and commitment of the senior leadership to driving the digital transformation of the Telegraph.”

CEO MacLennan said: “Jon’s experience and talent will be a major addition to our senior leadership team as we move forward with the transformation of the business.

“Jon will be instrumental in leading the Technology team forward in delivering our technology strategy which is central to our plans.”

Former Telegraph CIOs include Paul Cheesbrough, who left to become News International CIO and is currently CTO at News Corp reporting to Rupert Murdoch, and former CTO and CIO at the Economist Mike Seery.
