The Telegraph Media Grouphas announced its replacement for CIO Paul Cheesbrough with the appointment of Mike Seery and a new CTO.

Mike Seery becomes the Group CIO for the Telegraph Media Group on November 8 2010 and will report directly to the chief executive Murdoch MacLennan. Seery joins the publishers of the Daily and Sunday Telegraph newspaper after an 18 month stint as an Agile consultant with IndigoBlue. The Telegraph role is a full time return to the media for Seery who had a 10 year career with The Economist Group as CTO and CIO. At IndigoBlue he consulted with Telegraph newspaper rivals The Guardian Media Group, as well as brewers Adnams and Bibendum Wine.

At The Economist Seery developed the weekly magazine’s successful paid-for online offering and implemented an open source platform for the site.

The Telegraph Media Group lost its previous CIO Paul Cheesbrough to Rupert Murdoch’s News Corporation in June 2010. The Australian owner’s newspaper group which publishes the Times, Sun and News of the World publications, snatched the youthful Cheesbrough (pictured) who had made a name for himself at The Telegraph with the adoption of Google Docs, email and other cloud based applications.
