Comparethemarket.com owners BGL Group appoints new CIO

Stuart Walters has been appointed CIO at financial services company and comparethemarket.com owners BGL Group.

Walters joins from global travel organisation Kuoni Group where he was also CIO, and in his new role will sit on the company’s executive board, take over a team of more than 400 employees and oversee technology systems and infrastructure across all of the Peterborough-based group’s businesses.

He said: “With changing consumer behaviours and the growing importance of dynamic pricing, technology excellence is fundamental to the ongoing success and growth of BGL.

“Insurance is a new sector for me but I am looking forward to the challenge, in what is a fast-paced and ever changing market.”

BGL Group CEO Matthew Donaldson said: “Stuart’s strong technology credentials, coupled with his commercial and business focus, will be big assets.

“Our systems deliver up to eight million prices for consumers every day, across a wide range of products including motor, home and life insurance, energy tariffs and credit cards. It’s therefore vital that we operate successfully today and make ongoing preparations for our future growth.
