You can now read CIO UK on your choice of tablets device. CIO UK is available on the Apple iOS newsstand and Android Google Play Store. The November issue and every issue from 2012 is available and from the December issue going forward the digital edition will be more than just the print edition on a tablet device, all future digital editions will include additional content from our writers and experts that devote their efforts to our online title ( www.cio.co.uk).
The launch of a new digital edition designed specifically for tablet devices is the latest in a series of modernisations the CIO team and I have been carrying out. Just last year we relaunched our ever popular magazine with a new design that has gone to form the template for the new digital edition.
Early in 2012 we rebooted the CIO 100 with a new judging criteria and panel that focused on the real issue that matters to CIOs and for business technology – transformation. The outcome of a technology implementation to improve the lot of customers and the organisation is far more important than the specification.
For 2013 we will re-launch our online offering with an exciting new website that really puts CIOs even more centrally on CIO UK.
This week, last week, the previous month and all of last year CIOs told me how their business technology leadership strategy is always focused on the end customer of that organisation. That sometimes means rapidly developing a new offering or occasionally waiting to see what the prevailing trend will be. We’re not the first to market with a digital edition for CIOs, but we have spent a lot of time listening to CIOs and monitoring how our products are consumed. A new edition to the CIO UK family in no way means neglect or a future strategy to exit our other products. We are passionate about informing, leading and being on the side of our readership – CIOs.  We are committed to our print, online, digital and networking events, like servers, datacentres, operating systems and applications they all interoperable  and support one another to create our business outcome.
Finally I’d like to thank Richard Bailey, Head of Digital Production at IDG, CIO’s publishers, and Rhys Lewis, Managing Editor of CIO for their work in developing our new digital edition.
