Winds of change in the CIO 100 Q1 update

Change is in the air, whether it’s the wonders of spring bring new life and colour to the countryside, parks  and streets; there is an election – just in case you hadn’t noticed and surprisingly there does seem to be a small chance of real change from the usual dull duopoly. We’ve been busy charting the changes in the business and IT landscape as today we launched the latest updates to the CIO 100. Our Q1 reports pull together all the news coverage of the organisations, private and public sector, as well as updates on the career moves of CIOs. Within these articles you’ll see how banks that thrived during the credit crisis compare to those that had to rely on government funding to survive. You will also be able to compare your organisation’s performance, IT investments, business strategy and leadership with those of the organisations who have already made major changes to their IT outlook in 2010. We have updated the profiles of 31 companies in the CIO 100. In the financial sector there are new profiles for Nationwide Building Society, Citigroup, Standard Life, Barclays and HSBC. Major media companies, the BBC, BSkyB and Daily Mail and General Trusthave had their profiles updated as have telecommunications and IT companies Orange, Vodafone, BT, Accenture and Microsoft UK. There are also profiles for hospitality company Whitbread, First Grouptravel company, pharmaceutical giants AstraZeneca and GSK. Before the election has ended we can see that there are already major changes taking place in the public sector and the government, whoever forms it, will make those changes even more drastic. Amongst the updates in the Q1 update of the CIO 100 are Defra, Lancashire County Council, Department of Health, the Home Office, Ministry of Defence and the Department for Work & Pensions. There are also updated profiles for retail giants Tesco, Sainsbury’s and Morrisons.
