Soft drinks maker Britvic has appointed Steve Potts as its new CIO.

Potts moves from Marks & Spencer where he had been working as Head of IT for Foods, International, Retail and Corporate Functions for more than three years, joining the FTSE 250-listed UK drinks producer behind brands Robinsons, Tango, J2O, and with the UK franchises for Pepsi and 7 UP.

Earlier this year Britvic’s Group Director of IT Rob Pritchard took on a visiting academic role at the University of Birmingham as its Professor of Applied Information Technology and Corporate Strategy before leaving Hertfordshire-based Britvic in August, with human resources boss Doug Frost listed on the company’s website as HR, IT and Change Director and part of the executive team.

Potts was CIO of quarrying company and construction materials supplier Tarmac Group from August 2007 until February 2010 before becoming Corporate and Group Function IT Director at mining company Anglo American.

Whitbread and InterContinental Hotels Group are among the main shareholders of Britvic.
