Jeremy Butterfield is to take the place left by Damien Ghee as IT director at bread brand Warburtons. According to a source close to the situation, Butterfield – who was previously head of group IT at milk trading hub Milklink – moves into his new role this week.

It is understood that Ghee has moved on internally to take up a non-IT role at Warburtons and Butterfield will report to the finance director Andrew Light.

According to the source, Butterfield was brought in to tackle IT innovation and cost control, but his experience at migrating Milklink systems onto Microsoft’s Business Productivity Online Services cloud platform could also be highly valued at his new workplace.

Warburtons biggest IT investment to date is probably the SAP ERP system it deployed in 2004.

Butterfield joined Milklink in 2009 as IT controller after a stint at Cadburys, spending much of his time in Australia, Europe, Japan and the US.
