Royal Mail CIO post goes to Catherine Doran – updated

Catherine Doranis leaving her role at Network Rail to become the new CIO at the Royal Mail.

Doran, currently Director of Corporate Development, a business change role, at Network Rail has been with the national rail infrastructure group since 2006 when she became the CIO. Doran moved into her current role in 2008.

A spokesperson for Network Rail confirmed that Doran will be leaving in mid-July and is expected to start at the Royal Mail in September 2011.

In a statement the Royal Mail said:

“Catherine will join us on 1 September 2011 reporting to Alex Smith, Director of Business Development & Technology‎ and she will be on the Group Executive Team Committee. Working closely with leaders across the business, Catherine will drive the transformation of our technology estate to underpin the commercial and operational transformation we need to achieve as a company.”

Robin Darguewas CIO and Technology Director at Royal Mail until July 2010 when he left to become head of technology transformation at French telecommunications equipment specialist Alcatel-Lucent in Paris.
