Insurance group Hyperion has appointed David Jack as its new CIO, who moves from the thetrainline.com. Jack, who has been CIO at thetrainline.com since January 2009 and was placed at number 22 in this year’s CIO 100, began his new role at Hyperion last month saying he would be “developing an innovative and disruptive vision and driving fundamental change for one of the world’s leading insurance businesses”. He said: “It’s a very different industry with some huge opportunities and challenges.” Jack was the focus of a CIO profile in July 2012 where he discussed leading the IT estate at the online retailer – “essentially the cloud for the rail industry” – that had been seeing double-digit growth year on year, and earlier this year spoke to CIO about Big Data and a strategy which showed a focus on customer privacy so as not to tarnish your brand.
