South Australian-headquartered professional services and engineering group Nova has begun recruiting for a new chief information officer.

Nova Group’s current tech chief, Paul Cooper, stepped into the role after his predecessor Tas Ranson was appointed group chief of business services in 2018. Cooper is preparing to depart the group, a spokesperson confirmed.

The group brings together professional services provider Nova Systems, aerospace engineering business GVH Aerospace, mapping and geographic information systems firm Geoplex, and global messaging and alerting software as a service provider two10degrees.

In 2019 Nova Systems was ranked number three in the professional services category of the AFR BOSS Most Innovative Companies list, with its work on developing a digital twin platform winning it its position.

The group has offices across Australia’s mainland states and in Canberra; its businesses also have offices in New Zealand, Europe, the United Kingdom, and Asia. The majority of the group’s ICT team are based out of Adelaide, but the company indicated that the new CIO could potentially work from Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane or Canberra.

A job posting by Nova Group states it is interested in candidates with 5+ years of experience leading IT teams, as well as experience in “modern delivery and development practices” such as Agile and DevOps and “modern architectural concepts”. The group CIO reports to Ranson.

Because of the company’s defence work, the sucessful candidate will need to be an Australian citizen able to achieve and hold an NV-1 security clearance.
