Welcome to the CIO Summit. It is great to see many familiar faces returning for this, our third CIO Summit; your continued presence surely guarantees a high level of debate today.

As in previous years we have taken on board the feedback you provide to us via the feedback forms. We have strived to bring a wide variety of CIOs to the dais and I’d like to take this opportunity to thank them for giving up the time to prepare and speak today; we all know how busy the CIO watch is day in, day out.

We have worked with everyone speaking today to ensure the business, technology and leadership strand agendas challenge, inform, inspire and entertain. At the end of each of each of these strands will be a panel debate featuring the CIOs that have spoken – this is your opportunity to engage with the speakers and the entire CIO community. By discussing openly in this forum we can help ourselves as individuals, and can also improve the lot of our community.

Not only must I thank the CIOs speaking today, I must also extend thanks to our sponsors Microsoft, Workday and CSC. Their support makes today possible, but this year’s sponsors have done more than offer support; the speakers that these three valued partners are bringing to today’s forum demonstrates their serious intent to be collaborative, open and honest with the CIO community.

I’m sure all of us will find some points of discussion hard at times, but by being open we can progress the field of business technology leadership.

Please enjoy today and make the most of the opportunities to discuss the challenges we all face together.
