Australian National University (ANU) CIO Peter Nikoletatos has left his post at the university. Nikoletatos – who had been in the role since February 2002 – left last week. Speaking to CIO, Nikoletatos said: “I knew it wasn’t quite right and agreed to separate [from ANU].” He declined to comment further on the circumstances around his departure but added he will be looking for another CIO role. He said ANU was looking to find “administrative efficiencies” in its total IT budget of between $60 million and $70 million per year. The university had also moved support to a single help desk down from ten. It was also working with Dell on IT rationalisation across its network, storage and private cloud. Nikoletatos is an experienced CIO. He was the CIO at Curtin University from October 2008 to February 2012, and the University of Newcastle from October 2005 to October 2008. An ANU representative said Nikoletatos left the university last week by mutual agreement and it would be making no further comment.
