Movers and shakers: ANZ exec is the new CTO at Inland Revenue Department

Gary Baird has been appointed the new CTO at Inland Revenue Department, replacing Myles Ward, who is now CEO at healthAlliance.

Gary is currently head of enterprise infrastructure architecture and business services at ANZ, and will take on the IRD role in April 2016. He has been with ANZ since 2008, holding ICT executive roles including general manager of technology and global head of capacity and data centre management. He moved to ANZ from DHL where he was VP global infrastructure portfolio management.

Nigel Prince takes up a new executive role in government, as Group Manager Services at Ministry for Foreign Affairs Trade. Before this, he was General Manager Managed Services (NZ) for Fujitsu.

He joined Fujitsu from the Ministry for Primary Industrieswhere he was deputy director general corporate services for more than three years. The ministry was formed from the merger of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry (of which he was the CIO) and the Ministry of Fisheries. Prince was also CIO of NZ Postin 2004 to 2006.

Nathan Bryant-Taukiri is now the new managing director of ICT recruitment firm Potentia. He joined Potentia in 2005 to grow the business whilst it was in start-up mode.

He then stepped into the roles of GM, COO and director prior to his current role. “I am looking forward to fulfilling Potentia’s vision: to be the most connected and respected resource solutions business in New Zealand and recognised as first class globally,” says Bryant-Taukiri.

Anna Curzon joins Xero as NZ managing director, replacing Victoria Crone who resigned last week to run for Mayor of Auckland. Curzon was general manager internet banking at ASB and most recently, was GM Digital First at Spark.

Xero also appointed Doug LaBahn as vice president of partner and product marketing based in Xero’s San Francisco office. He has led product marketing in leading global companies including Dun Bradstreet, Experian and CircleBack and most recently Sage, where he was led cloud, mobile, accountants and the global launch of Sage Live with Salesforce.com.

Curzon and LaBahn will report to Andy Lark, chief marketing and business officer.

Willy Trolove, a communications director in the Prime Minister’s Office, is joining the Institute of Directors as external relations manager. Trolove graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) (Hons) from Canterbury University in 1997, and worked as an engineer in New Zealand and London.

Kirsten Ralph, a commercial manager from Department of Conservation, is joining the IoD as General Manager Commercial. IoD Chief Executive Simon Arcus says Ralph will lead the IoD’s governance training and consultancy.
